...Tell me Again How Thin You Were in High School, Mommy

Zeb used to fall asleep shortly after we settled him in his crib. He doesn't want to do that anymore. To stave off abandonment, he now tries desperately to engage us in conversation.
Tonight, he kept asking about our cat. "What Panky (Swanky) doing?'' he repeated after we left the room.
And because asking Lulu to name her favorite color always elicits such a detailed response, he tried it on me. "Mommy, what yah favorite? Puh-pul?''
I left the room. So Zeb resorted to singing a song Lulu had taught him. (I think she learned it from "Jimmy Neutron.'')
"Car Car Car. Star Star Star. Moon Moon Moon. See ya next June!''
The rest of us, including Lulu, laughed heartily from the next room, which only encouraged him. Zeb sang louder, with increasing hilarity, until he could bear it no longer and broke down, screaming and rattling his crib.
Regis went to calm him, but within minutes Zeb was up again, trying to revive an ongoing argument with Lulu: "No, MY mommy! MY daddy!''
Lulu initially took the bait ("MY mommy! MY daddy!') But when we threatened her with no bedtime story, she ignored him.
He was still asking whether we could take him to Burger King when he finally drifted off a half hour later.
